    Course Schedules
Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
40 hours per week, 160 hours in total.
    Class Schedule
Each trainee must complete 160 contact hours in order to receive their TEFL certificate. Classes will be held 40 hours per week over a period of four weeks. Trainees will complete the above mentioned hours in the following: training, lesson planning, observed practice teaching, peer observation, feedback sessions, aid in job placement and foreign language classes.

The class schedule is 8:00am to 5:00pm, any adjustments to the times can be made by the trainers or suggested by the group of trainees.

Trainees also have the opportunity to meet with local English and Spanish teachers to discuss their experiences teaching abroad. Trainees may also participate in the cultural activities and weekend tours offered by Intercultura. Those that are interested may also observe current staff members teaching EFL in the evenings.

    Evaluation Process
Trainees will be evaluated throughout the course on their general performance in class, lesson plans, application of methodologies and feedback, and final observed teaching hours. Trainees will be given an observation form for each observed teaching hour and the final observation forms as well as the cumulative final exam. Teachers are given a Pass A, Pass B or Fail grade.

Over the four weeks, trainees will create a portfolio of their created activities, observation forms and final test to be used in the interview process and future ESL/EFL classroom. Course book and didactic materials will be provided but trainees should bring their own notebook and writing materials.

    Volunteer Opportunities
Interested trainees may participate in our volunteer program after the course. Placements are in the local school district in Heredia. Teachers must be willing to commit to at least one month of volunteer services. There are other non-teaching positions available throughout the country and can be arranged upon arrival. Trainees receiving partial or full scholarships must complete at least one month of volunteer teaching. Email: info@costaricatefl.com for more information.
